A digital twin is a virtual replica of a built element, area or natural heritage that reflects how it functions in real time.

For public infrastructure managers and operators, these twins are an opportunity to rediscover their assets, facilitate collaboration and predict or anticipate failures.

Building Information Modelling.

As part of our digital transformation strategy, we’ve been using Building Information Modelling for over 10 years. 90% of our projects will be implemented with this technology by 2025. BIM makes designs more efficient and reliable and can help identify issues that could otherwise cost you money. It also means you have access to a more precise as-built model, which helps with the long term management of an asset.

Artificial Intelligence (AI)

The Architecture, Engineering, Construction, Operations (AECO) industry has traditionally been slow to adopt new technologies, but the rise of generative artificial intelligence (AI) is poised to change that. With the ability to quickly analyze vast amounts of data and generate novel solutions, generative AI promises to transform the way AECO firms approach everything from design and engineering to construction and project management. By automating tedious and time-consuming tasks, enabling real-time collaboration, and providing new insights into complex problems, generative AI has the potential to revolutionize the AECO industry, making it faster, more efficient, and more innovative than ever before.

Cybersecurity.

As cybersecurity is included from the start of every project, every building block is secure by design and meets the highest regional and international standards. Our end-to-end services include everything from maturity assessments to keeping you ahead of emerging threats.

Research and development.

We are heavily involved in digital research and development projects, including open exchange forums and national research projects. We contribute to technical commissions such as BuildingSMART International.

Augmented Reality and Virtual Reality.

We’re using Augmented Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR) across the entire value chain. At the design stage, this helps with visualising, testing and accepting designs. In the construction phase, we use AR and VR to optimise on-site survey processing and automate quality control. We also use this right across operations, including training maintenance teams with VR headsets

Artificial intelligence.

In partnership with the startup, SCIENT, we’re applying AI in ‘automated reverse engineering’ experiments across our rail, road and building projects. We’re also using artificial intelligence to optimise operations. For example, we’re using it to detect faults and plan repairs on major roads more efficiently and safely.

Additive manufacturing (3D-printing).

We’ve invested in additive manufacturing (3D printing) across several areas.

YHNOVA™ was one of France’s first building projects to use robotic printing. This experimental project involved constructing a 95 m² social housing unit in Nantes.
Seaboost uses 3D printing to recreate one of the richest natural habitats in the Mediterranean, the Coralligenous coral reefs.
Landboost uses this technology to create instant habitats for plants and animals, encouraging biodiversity in urban environments.

Sustainable technology.

The proliferation of data centres means that digital technology has a high environmental impact. We’re using BIM to design data centres with a lower carbon footprint and working towards carbon-neutral digital services as part of our sustainability strategy.
